Take a slow, meandering cruise and stroll along the world’s legendary rivers for a wildlife adventure like no other. A River Safari Singapore ticket takes you right into the heart of the deepest recesses of the rainforests across the globe. You’ll get a chance to witness its weird and wonderful inhabitants up close, from exotic birdlife, colourful plants, fish and rare amphibious mammals. You’ll also encounter an amazing diversity of flora and fauna in these fabled environments which giant pandas, salamanders, primates and jaguars all call home.
The only river themed safari in Asia, the River Safari is located adjacent to Singapore’s 2 other award winning wildlife parks - the Singapore Zoo and the Singapore Night Safari. Inspired by the mighty rivers of the world, the 30-acre River Safari boasts freshwater attractions, boat rides and a myriad of aquatic and terrestrial animals as its main attractions.
A journey through the 8 river habitats including the Mississippi, Congo, Nile, Ganges, Mekong and Yangtze rivers await as you meet with over 6,000 animals from over 300 species and 150 types of plants.
The key highlights of the River Safari are undoubtedly the Amazon River Quest, the River Safari Cruise, the Amazon Flooded Forest and the Giant Panda Forest. Fortunately, your Voyagin tickets gives you access to one free boat ride - which allows you to cruise downstream down one of the park’s boat rides and you can choose from the Amazon River Quest or the River Safari Cruise.
The Amazon River Quest takes you on a downstream adventure down the Amazon River along the world’s longest rainforest whilst the River Safari Cruise takes you on a cruise along the perimeter of the River Safari.
The magical Amazon Flooded Forest takes you into the “lungs of the Earth” and offers a multi-sensory experience with enchanting animals submerged below the water’s surface while the Giant Panda Forest is the home to Singapore’s resident pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia. Watching them laze around the climate-controlled enclosure build to replicate their natural habitat in China is a crowd favourite.
A day out at the River Safari in Singapore is an unforgettable experience where you can simply sit back and take it all in at an unhurried pace or explore every nook and cranny at each river exhibit where strange amphibious creatures and exotic fish take refuge.
Exhibits at River Safari Singapore
Take a cruise through the heartlands of the American Deep South along the majestic Mississippi – affectionately known as ‘Ol’ Man River.’ In the depths of this mighty river live the alligator gar and the bizarre looking Mississippi paddlefish, noted for its distinctive long snout. Look closely for the chameleon-like Alligator Snapping Turtle as it seeks out prey on the riverbed.
Next stop Africa and the world’s deepest river, the Congo. This exhibit features a dazzling, vibrant splash of colour with tropical fish species such as the Jewel Cichild and the shimmering Congo Tetra. The most recognisable resident and the main draw is the giant freshwater Pufferfish.
Go with the flow along the Nile, the world’s longest river which spans 10 African countries. This inspiring journey showcases freshwater predators like the Tigerfish or the distinctive Giraffe Catfish among faithfully recreated submerged ancient ruins.
The Sub-Continent’s sacred waterway is revered by millions, but is also home to some wacky riverine creatures and fish species. The crocodile-like Indian Gharial is one such creature, distinguished by its elongated snout. Another bizarre quirk of nature not to be missed is the Frog-faced Softshell Turtle. The Ganges is also home to the fearsome carnivore Goonch Catfish, which even have a reputation as maneaters.
Flowing more than 4,000 km from the Himalayan foothills to the tropical coasts of the South China Sea, the Mekong is noted as the habitat for some of the world’s largest freshwater species including the Mekong giant catfish and the giant freshwater stingray which weighs up to 600 kg! This huge water exhibit is filled with a diverse array of life – watch as the crab eating macaque dives into the murky mangrove shallows in search of food or the methodical foraging of the majestic lesser adjutant stork.
The Yangtze River exhibit will transport you across rural China to glimpse lesser known species such as the rare Chinese alligator which roams freely in the swamps and waterways of the Yangtze basin. Keep an eye out for slippery critters such as the giant salamander and the sturgeon, known as a ‘living dinosaur,’ a species reputedly dating back more than 200 million years. On dry land the Yangtze’s two most famous inhabitants are the main attraction at River Safari in Singapore - the giant pandas guaranteed to captivate the adoring crowds.
Next up, venture to Queensland Australia for a fascinating journey amid tropical, mangrove and marine environments, showcasing their incredible diversity. Encounter the one-of-a-kind Australian lungfish, water-shooting archerfish, mudskippers and numerous bizarre marine critters like the horseshoe crab and chocolate chip sea star.
The world’s most iconic river is faithfully recreated, offering a truly immersive adventure through mysterious Amazonian rainforest habitats, and encounters with equally exotic creatures. Embark on a cruise down this famous river and come face to face with the unique giant anteater, the Brazilian Tapir or admire the predatory skills on land and water of the jaguar. Explore the Amazon Flooded Forest, giving you a unique perspective of life below the water, inhabited by the graceful giant river otter and the feared piranha fish.
